Both Thrombosis Research Institutes are multi disciplinary, free standing organisations, uniquely positioned to enable scientists from many different disciplines (biochemists, haematologists, enzymologists, cell biologists and molecular geneticists) to work together as a coherent team thereby increasing the opportunity for cross fertilisation of ideas and the development of new research strategies.
This integrated philosophy encompasses the Institute’s three main divisions:
- Basic research
- Innovative therapy
- Clinical research
The Bangalore Institute has also recently established three important technologies enabling a greater understanding of the molecular interaction between atheroma and thrombosis to be achieved. These technologies are:
- Functional Genomics
- Molecular Immunology
Both Institutes’ research programmes also benefit from associations with hospitals in both India and the United Kingdom. These collaborations provide extensive clinical research facilities for investigating and treating a large number of patients as well as a unique opportunity for translational research.
