Internationally renowned for pioneering, multi-disciplinary research, the Thrombosis Research Institutes comprise two independent charitable foundations based in London, United Kingdom and Bangalore, India.

Clinical Research:

Clinical research forms the most essential component of the Thrombosis Research Institute’s research activities and we have established a number of collaborative international networks which allow us to undertake large scale clinical studies to assess the efficacy and safety of newly developed oral anticoagulants for preventing venous thromboemboic disease.

Our mission is to speed up the translation of scientific advances into benefits for patients and we are participating in a number of clinical trials with international research centres and major pharmaceutical companies.

Our research projects are designed to:

  • assess further the efficacy and safety of low molecular weight heparin prophylaxis of medical and surgical patients
  • collect data re the clinical incidence, treatment and outcome of venous thromboembolism in patients with newly diagnosed malignancy and
  • assess the acute effects of statins on the regulation and expression of candidate genes in atherosclerosis
  • investigate patient management and quantify the burden of cardiovascular disease such as Atrial Fibrillation (AF) in global Registry Studies and Outcomes Research, for providing insights into how advances in both disease management and anticoagulation strategies can best be used for reducing the clinical and economic impact of disease
